On 30 January 2026, the Country Coordinating Mechanism for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Indonesia (CCM Indonesia) invited key stakeholders to attend a Malaria Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting aimed at providing updates on the development of the Global Fund Malaria Funding Request for Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) covering the 2027–2029 period. The meeting was held on Friday, 6 February 2026, from 13:30 to 17:00 WIB in a hybrid format, taking place at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and via Zoom.

This meeting marked an important early step in the preparation of the GC8 funding proposal. Prior to the drafting process, the Global Fund Country Team delivered a presentation outlining key principles and programmatic priorities for malaria in the upcoming funding cycle, ensuring alignment between the proposed submission and global strategic directions.

The main agenda included a review of GC7 implementation, including the identification of budget efficiencies for 2025 and projections for fund utilisation in 2026. In addition, discussions covered preparations for the GC8 Funding Request, as well as updates from the national malaria programme, including revisions to the National Strategic Plan (NSP), findings from the Malaria Programme Review, epidemiological data analysis, and government financing commitments.

Based on the terms of reference outlined, the meeting is expected to generate a plan for optimal budget reallocation and utilisation, while strengthening the strategic direction of the GC8 proposal, with a focus on at-risk populations, programme integration, and the sustainability of financing.
