MICROSCOPIST CAMP: Diagnostic Capacity Accelerator

The Microscopist Camp Accelerator anchors precision public health by ensuring that frontline diagnostic data are accurate, consistent, and decision-ready. High-quality microscopy is positioned not simply as a technical skill, but as a critical input into surveillance integrity, modelling reliability, and intervention targeting.

Delivered as an intensive 10-day programme, the accelerator develops Level 1 (Expert/Reference) competency through a structured combination of laboratory immersion, expert mentorship, and performance benchmarking. Small cohort design ensures depth of training, precision feedback, and measurable improvement in diagnostic accuracy and speed.

Training is grounded in real-world complexity. Participants interpret high-quality reference slides, digital microscopy outputs, and simulated case scenarios that capture mixed infections, low parasitaemia, and diagnostic artefacts. Continuous supervised reading and individual performance tracking reinforce consistency and confidence in interpretation.

Outputs include a cadre of highly competent microscopists, standardised diagnostic quality, and strengthened reliability of surveillance data—directly improving the evidentiary foundation of public health intelligence systems.
