Impact Hub Jakarta, in collaboration with OUCRU Indonesia, holds the Participatory Workshop: Health Research & Innovation Ecosystem Mapping at the Impact Hub Jakarta office in Cipete, South Jakarta. The workshop forms part of an ongoing effort to map Indonesia’s health research and innovation ecosystem, with the aim of identifying challenges, opportunities, and cross-sector collaboration needs to strengthen health innovation development in the country.

Organised in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), the workshop brings together professionals from the research, healthcare, innovation, entrepreneurship, funding, and innovation ecosystem development sectors. Representing OUCRU Indonesia are Aria A. Satwiko and Nyoman Indra K. The workshop adopts a participatory approach, encouraging participants to reflect on preliminary findings from earlier interviews while validating key patterns identified during the mapping process.

The workshop takes place across two discussion sessions using the World Café method. In the first session, participants are grouped according to their professional backgrounds to validate findings, map existing innovation pathways, and identify gaps within the health research and innovation ecosystem. The second session brings together cross-sector groups to foster understanding of different perspectives, develop joint recommendations, and map the support and funding landscape available for translational research development.

Through these collaborative discussions, participants are expected to identify the most critical barriers to health innovation development, including the need for institutional support, strategic partnerships, and sustainable funding mechanisms. The outcomes of the workshop provide valuable input for the development of strategic recommendations aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s national health research and innovation ecosystem.

By engaging a diverse range of stakeholders from the health and innovation sectors, the workshop seeks to foster stronger collaboration and accelerate the translation of research into practical health solutions that deliver meaningful benefits to communities across Indonesia.
