The Government of Indonesia continues to strengthen its commitment to achieving malaria elimination by 2030 through the development of the National Action Plan for Malaria Elimination (RANPEM) for the 2026–2029 period. In this context, the Ministry of Health convened a Technical Consultation Meeting on the Alignment of RANPEM, held from 11 to 13 March 2026, both in person at the UNICEF Indonesia Office in Jakarta and online via Zoom.

This activity formed a critical part of the process of reviewing previous malaria programme achievements, while also identifying implementation gaps in the field. The forum further served as a platform to gather technical input from stakeholders on strategies, indicators, and priority interventions that will underpin future planning.

The consultation brought together participants from across sectors, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, international organisations such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF, as well as malaria experts, including Dr. Iqbal Elyazar. The involvement of diverse stakeholders is expected to enrich perspectives in formulating more comprehensive, data-driven policies.

The agenda covered discussions on the progress of RANPEM development, the integration of malaria services into the primary healthcare system, and thematic desk reviews addressing diagnostics, case management, surveillance, and vector control. Deliberations also focused on aligning programme targets, indicators, and strategic approaches.

Through this consultation, it is anticipated that clearer policy directions and more effective and efficient malaria programme planning will be established, aligned with national needs. The active participation of all stakeholders remains key to accelerating the achievement of malaria elimination targets in Indonesia by 2030.
